Do You Have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)?

If you have IBD (Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis), Dr. Ted Steiner (infectious disease doctor) and his research team, in partnership with the GI Society, would like to invite you to participate in a focus group. A focus group involves a group of people who are asked what their opinions, ideas, and experiences are on a certain topic. In this case, we want to discuss a new treatment, cell therapy, which is being developed to treat IBD, and what opinions and thoughts people with IBD have on this potential treatment and the need for new treatments.

The information we collect will also help us develop an online survey of people with IBD and their caregivers so we can better understand the needs and concerns of Canadians with IBD.

What is Involved?

You will come to the focus group location and join a group with three to six other individuals. The group is expected to take one and a half hours of your time. Jens Vent-Schmidt (PhD Candidate, Experimental Medicine) and a study coordinator will help with the organized discussion, but in a flexible way, with time for all participants to give their opinions.

Principle Investigator: Dr. Theodore Steiner

Study Title: Patients’ Perspectives on Genetically Engineered Cell Therapy for IBD
